What that means in practice

The tours listed here are sold through Viator and GetYourGuide. When you follow a link from one of these pages and go on to book, the platform pays us a share of its own commission. You pay the same fare either way; the price on the booking page is the operator's price, not a marked-up one.

What we are not

We are not a tour operator. We do not run any of these days, employ any of these guides or drivers, or hold your booking. Your contract is with the operator, through the platform.

We have no connection with Parks Victoria, Visit Victoria, Tourism Australia, the Mornington Peninsula Shire, Peninsula Hot Springs, any winery, the gondola or any tour company.

How tours get listed

Operators cannot pay for placement, position or a badge. A badge on a card is a measured claim of ours: Top rated only on a tour rated 4.9 or higher, Best value only on the cheapest fare, and Best seller only on the tour with the most reviews. Today Best value sits on the self-guided bike at Point Nepean, and Top rated on the private day and the southern-coast day. Other tours also rate 4.9 or higher; the badge marks two of them rather than every one. There is no Best seller badge, because the most-reviewed listing is one of the duplicates described below. A platform's own award is not shown.

The featured tours at the top of the homepage are three different days from three operators, leaving from three places in Melbourne at three price points: the hot springs express from the Regent Theatre, the six-guest food and wine day from your hotel, and the southern-coast day from Arts Centre Melbourne.

Some operators sell the same day on both platforms, each with its own fare and reviews. We show the better-rated version in the tour grids and keep the other out, so the same day is never carded twice.

The cruises from San Remo sail on the Phillip Island side of Western Port, not from the peninsula. They are listed, and labelled as Phillip Island, because they are the nearest whale and sea-cave trips.

Prices, ratings and how current they are

Prices, star ratings and review counts belong to the operators and were taken from their own listings on 29 September 2026. They move, and the figure at checkout is the one that counts. Every tour fare is quoted in US dollars, the currency the listings were captured in, and is the listing's own per-person from-price, the private day included. A listing's time-limited discount is not shown, because it ends. Cents are dropped, never rounded up.

Official prices for the hot springs, the gondola and the Point Nepean shuttle are printed in Australian dollars, as those bodies publish them, and are never converted. The springs' figures come from their price list of 10 September 2026. Weather figures are the Bureau of Meteorology's long-term averages for its Cerberus station on Western Port.

What we deliberately do not publish

• A promised sighting. No listing guarantees dolphins, seals or whales, so no page does either.
• Park entry as something a fare buys. The parks charge nothing at the gate, so where a listing includes "entry" or "national park fees", we say what the fare actually pays for.
• Claims no official page confirms. Where a listing makes a claim about a winery that the estate's own pages do not make, or a figure for hire at the springs that disagrees with the springs' own price list, the official figure is printed and the claim is not.
• Opening hours we did not read. Where an estate's own hours page was not available, no hours are printed for it.
• Bus timetables. The Frankston to Portsea bus is named, but its frequency is not printed; check the timetable on the day.
