A coach, the pools and nothing else
This is the simplest way to spend a day at Peninsula Hot Springs without a car. Autopia Tours runs it as the springs' own shuttle, so the coach that collects you on Collins Street carries the springs' branding, and your entry to the Bath House is already paid and waiting. There is no winery, no lunch stop and no guided walk to fit around. The day is built around the water.
The springs sit at Fingal, in the south of the peninsula. They call themselves less than 90 minutes from Melbourne, and the drive down is the one long stretch of the day. After that, your time is your own: move between hot pools, cold plunges and saunas, eat when you like, and meet the coach at the time your driver sets.
At $135 a person the fare sits in the middle of the springs days. It costs more than Bath House entry on its own at $56 a person, and the difference buys the return coach and the two photo stops. Every other way into the pools is compared on hot springs tours.
Bath House entry, and what it does not cover
The fare buys the Bath House, the family-friendly bathing area with more than 50 bathing experiences. All ages are welcome there, and children aged 3 to 15 must stay with an adult. The Spa Dreaming Centre is a separate area for guests of 16 and over. It is not in this fare, and neither are spa treatments, which you book in advance and directly with the springs.
Towels, robes and lockers are hired at reception on arrival. The springs' own 2026 price list charges A$6 for a towel, A$15 for a robe and A$12 for a locker, or A$25 for all three. Bring your own towel and you save most of that. Food is not in the fare either: buy lunch at one of the two cafés on site, or bring your own.
Important. Once you leave the springs you cannot go
back in, and the coach sets the time you leave. If you want the whole day in the water, book the
entry on its own and make your own way; the options are side by side on hot springs tours.
The ridge and the bathing boxes on the way home
The coach does not go straight back to the city. It climbs to a lookout on Arthurs Seat, the ridge whose summit reaches 314 metres, for a view over Port Phillip Bay. Then it drops to Safety Beach for the bathing boxes, the painted timber sheds that line the bay beaches. Both are photo stops, not walks.
The 8:20 departure, and the twilight question

Finding the coach at the Regent Theatre
Meet outside the front of the Regent Theatre, 191 Collins Street, in the middle of the city. Arrive 5 to 10 minutes before the 8:20 departure and look for the springs' branded shuttle bus. The coach brings you back to the same spot.

Know before you go
- Pack swimwear and a towel. Or hire a towel for A$6 at reception.
